I am running for Town Board because I care deeply about this community and everyone in it. I want to see St. Joseph thrive while preserving the rural character that drew me here in the first place. Growth and change are inevitable, but I believe they must be managed in a way that respects our town’s values and history.
Two major issues currently facing St. Joseph are:
1. The potential closures of Houlton and Willow River schools. Both schools are part of the Hudson School District, which is once again facing severe financial mismanagement. The fact that we are repeatedly placed in this situation is unacceptable. Closing these schools would be nothing more than a temporary band-aid that fails to address the real financial problems.
2. The proposed large-scale solar farm project. This development raises significant concerns, including potential declines in property values, environmental risks from solar panel degradation, and the loss of the rural landscape that our community has worked so hard to preserve. However, if the project does move forward, we need to ensure that landowners, the township, and the county are fairly compensated and protected. The Town Board must take a proactive role in advocating for equitable lease agreements, clear land use protections, and long-term financial benefits so that if this project is inevitable, it happens in a way that benefits our community rather than exploits it.
One key initiative would be to create a comprehensive asset management plan that details the town’s infrastructure, anticipated maintenance costs, and replacement timelines. This should be projected over 25 years so taxpayers have full transparency about future expenses.
Additionally, we must begin preparing for the retirement of our Zoning Administrator, Jay Kimble. His expertise has been invaluable, and finding a qualified replacement will be critical to maintaining the efficiency and integrity of our zoning and planning processes.
I am honored to be both an Air Force Veteran and an active firefighter and EMS member with St. Joseph Fire Rescue and EMS. Serving this community in emergency situations has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Whether it’s responding to a fire, a medical emergency, or an accident, I take pride in being there for my neighbors in their time of need.
I am here for everyone in this community—full stop. I will always act with the town’s best interests at heart, every single day. Whether I am elected or not, I will continue serving as an active firefighter and EMS member, and I will always be here for every resident of St. Joseph.
